4 Ways To Look Good Without Trying

by - 28 January

Let's face it, there are days when you just try too hard and achieve nothing and there are days when you just don't feel like it. So what do you do? Today I share with you my secret fail-proof ways of still looking good with minimal to no effort.

If you're one of those people - like me - who are drawn to the slouchy tee or that soft sweater. Drop it. Drop it now. When shopping I find it so hard to find clothes that are going to be comfortable for my 'bleurgh' days but still make me look 'wow'. The inspiration for this post actually came from my horrible experience at Forever 21, but they've been reasonable enough to let me exchange my unwanted slouchy tees, well eventually. So I took this opportunity to really challenge myself and exchange them for clothes that do a lot of the work for me.

My findings reveal that particularly tops with bold patterns and nice cuts help you look good without much effort. Don't be afraid of printed skirts or trousers either. A bold lipstick and a scrunchie or headband for hair and face-wise will do. Let me show you how.

Let's start with the face, as I always mention in my videos, and you're probably tired of hearing it but you can never fault a bold lip. Look at yourself in the mirror with nothing other than a bright lipstick and your face has dramatically changed. No concealer, foundation, blush, eye shadow or liner. Just that lipstick and you're instantly put together. This should be a go-to in your bag on one of those days when someone pulls out the camera and your face is just not feeling up to it.

If you know me, I'm a ponytail or top-knot girl most of the time. I just don't like my hair all over the place, too much maintenance if you ask me. I just pop on one of these and i'm good to go.

I've been on the hunt for a wrap top for the longest time. This is a cross between sophisticated and casual and I love it. As I mentioned before, look at the cut as well as the pattern. Compare it to your usual go-tos. I usually go for a long sleeved thin baggy top with a scooped neckline. This top is flowy, has an open neckline and long sleeved. Perfect. Wear this with a plain and comfy midi-skirt instead of jeans for a put together look. I went for the ASOS Split Front Midi Skirt and it's perfect, not so tight like those jersey ones.

Going plain on top? Wear a bright or printed skirt or trousers. Whatever you do, don't go Plain Jane all over. A lot of people shy away from bright coloured or patterned bottoms and make excuses about it not matching everything. Just look at the amount of colours that match this beautiful yellow skirt. The possibilities are endless.

Stay away from slouchy tops with the shoulder seam well below where the shoulder should be. Something like this can drown you and look like you've made no effort, unless you go through the effort of tucking it into fitted trousers and add accessories.

With a t-shirt you have to go through the trouble of scurrying around your room looking for a patterned scarf or rummaging through your jewellery box for a statement necklace. With a well designed top or bottoms 90% of the work is already done.

This post is actually a sneak peak to my upcoming YouTube video on ways to look good without trying. I thought it would only be fair to let my blog readers in on it all first. Don't forget to subscribe to my channel to see the video when it's up.
